The concept is fantastic. The illustrations are beautiful. Execution less so.

Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls is an anthology of one page biographies featuring women who broke the rules and changed the world around them. Their nationalities are diverse, some historical, some contemporary, but for me there were some questionable inclusions. Margaret Thatcher, Aung San Suu Kyi, Empress Jungu. Should children learn about these women who did detrimental harm to ethnic groups, the LGBTQ2+ community, the economically/ socially disadvantaged? Absolutely. Should we celebrate them? No. Thatcher is not some cheeky minx. Aung San Suu Ky committed genocide. Celebrating architect Zaha Hadid for treating people poorly. Florence Nightingale was a huge supporter of British colonialism who had no issues with Indigenous people's being a casualty of said institution.

Disappointing over all...but beautiful pictures?
