The Air Between Us by Deborah Johnson

2.0

I really wanted to love this book. It started off strong, with intriguing characters and events. I found that the beginning led to a number of predictions and I quickly read through the first half, quite interested to see what happened next. Then, around the halfway mark, the book lost me. I found myself struggling to keep up with the plot. I felt as though the characters and events kept building, but there was too much time in between each character's story and too little detail of the events to become invested in what ends up being a series of trace events. Many of the character's stories are so quickly wrapped up (within a page or two) that I found myself looking back through the pages for something that I had possibly missed, to no avail. The foundation of the story had so much potential, yet I just didn't feel satisfied by the closure, or lack thereof. An unfortunate miss.
