Little Disasters by Sarah Vaughan

Just barely 3.

This book started out more exciting than how it ended

SUMMARY: Liz and Jess met in prenatal classes and became friends. Liz always admired Jess because motherhood came easy to her and she was always so put together and perfect (that friend). The two lost some of their closeness when Jess had a third baby and Liz went back to work as a doctor with growing kids...

One night a baby is brought into the hospital and it’s Jess’s baby daughter. Upon examination of the infant, Dr Liz notices a head injury. Jess’s story also seems off, but Liz keeps thinking about how well she knows Jess and what a good mother she is. Eventually she does the right thing, follows protocol, and the police/social services are brought in to investigate what actually happened to the baby. This “case” also makes Liz see what happened in her childhood differently.
