It was a difficult and heavy read despite it being short, mainly due to its graphic content on violence and bullying. I appreciate Kawakami’s storytelling since she was able to successfully individuate the characters—allowing us to see and live through their reality. I’m currently in an existential crisis after reading since it got me thinking with the way it ended, the questions provided, and the way morality is viewed differently by people. I find it scary how this story may not be far from real life.
