And So I Roar by Abi Daré
5.0

After reading the first book, I didn't think anything could surpass it, but this one truly did. It was beautifully written and served as a profound exposé into the lives of Adunni and Tia. I appreciated how we were able to explore more of their stories this time around. It was heartbreaking to see how broken Tia was and to understand why Adunni meant so much to her.

I enjoyed this book. Abi Dare is a prolific and fantastic writer. This book took me on an emotional journey; I cried and felt Adunni’s pain. I could vividly imagine myself in Ikati village, surrounded by mountains, forests, and huts.

The story highlights how women continue to struggle for recognition as human beings in this part of the world and reflects on their varying levels of value. It brings attention to the challenges that girls face just to survive, which is still a current issue. Kudos to Abi Dare for shedding light on this important part of our reality and for helping us understand the immense struggles women endure, emphasizing that they deserve to have a voice.

Women should have loud voices. They should never be silenced, forced into marriages, or subjected to child marriages. They should not be forced to settle for less or made to suffer for sins they did not commit. Women deserve protection, respect, education, and care at all costs.

Thank you, Abi Dare, for this incredible book. It’s one that you will love. If you haven't read the first one, “The Girl With The Louding Voice”, I highly recommend you do so before reading this sequel. It's worth it!
