There’s a scene in “Addams Family Values” where Morticia is reading “The Cat in the Hat” to baby Pubert, and she flips to the end and says, in quiet, lovely despair, “Oh no. He lives.”
And that was pretty much my reaction when I got to the end of this book and realized the author was hellbent on undoing any character growth Abby might have achieved by having her end up with that douchebag. (I really had my fingers crossed that she wouldn’t end up with anyone. Oh well.)
Headcanon is they break up in college.
