Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney
4.0
My students and my sons LOVE Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. I couldn’t let anymore time pass before I read this for myself. I have seen some of the movies but hadn’t read the books.
Greg Heffley is a typical middle school student. He makes mistakes, and shows us authentic middle school life as a student, brother, and son. He’s just trying to get through life. My students and son find him so relatable, and I enjoyed seeing his view of his parents and teachers.
I see so many teachers say these aren’t “real” books, which I find disappointing. If this helps unlock a love of reading, helps a person feel “seen,” and gives me a connection with my students and sons, I’m all in.
