The Woman in Me by Britney Spears

dark emotional hopeful reflective sad medium-paced

Britney Spears’ memoir is entertaining, shocking, and stomach-turning—and above all it made me think of how women have been controlled over the centuries in the same ways: infantilized while sexually commodified, pain belittled, reproductive choices limited, separated from her children, institutionalized, involuntarily medicated, labor exploited. Britney says something about maybe having some kind of feminist awakening—I really wish this would be.
