Prince of Persuasion by Scarlett Scott
3.0
3 Stars
It was a little slow in the beginning for me. My interest wasn't quite as peaked even though I was happy to read about Duncan after seeing him in the first book about Crispin. This book was a decent read overall, not great. Nothing to complain about but nothing quite memorable either.
I really enjoyed Duncan. I liked his motivations and would have liked more backstory. Alas that is a trend with Scarlett Scott. She can deliver some wonderful characters and stories but her style of storytelling can be more concise and upfront than long-winded as is most historicals, and don't get me wrong, I DO like that style which is why I've read so many of her books. It's NICE to eliminate all the drama or monologues used as filler and get to the meat of the story, ya know? But in some cases such as this it feels almost like a tragedy NOT to dig further into Duncan's history.
Jo was likeable, although not my favorite. She was definitely not what I expected going in which was a nice surprise. I found her plight sad and felt for her as everyone who should have stood by her and cared about her well being and happiness just did not.
It was a cute romance albeit mostly predictable by the end. Solid three star read.
