rebecca why did i ever doubt you? yes i loved yellowface, i was obsessed with babel, but for some reason i thought the wartime fantasy of the poppy war wouldn't do anything for me. more fool me, but i learn from my mistakes (meaning i preordered katabasis a year ago). the poppy war is so. good. and 4.5* is nothing to scoff at, coming from a reader who finds herself less and less entertained by what the fantasy genre has to offer. especially since i immediately sold off my paperback copy and traded it in for the stunning collector's edition hardback.
