The Turn of the Screw by Henry James
1.0

It's possible that I will read some good criticism of The Turn of the Screw and come to better appreciate it. But my untutored opinion is that it is, perhaps, the world's most overwritten and uneventful ghost story. There are certain joys to James' style, even here. But, if you want a taste of it in a better story, of comparable length, try [b:Daisy Miller|16204|Daisy Miller|Henry James|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1327911289l/16204._SY75_.jpg|3274683]. That, in fact, is the only work from James that I, so far, have enjoyed. The best I can say about the work in question is I'm glad it's over.
