The German Wife by Kelly Rimmer

This book was excellent, wow. I did a mix of the audiobook & the hard copy for the first time & really enjoyed both. :) The author balanced both characters and both timelines easily, & I never found myself lost or confused. It was an extremely thought-provoking story, & a sobering reminder of our own hypocrisy and failure to recognize that it’s not one massive decision that lands you somewhere you never thought you’d be or go but the everyday choices about things we decide to ignore or let slide because they’re “not a big deal.” It’s easy to say, “that would never have been me,” but this book really forces you to examine that statement a little more closely. What would you have done to save your family? Your children? What should you have done? If the power of choosing whose lives are sacrificed is seemingly in your hands, what do you do?
