I must've only read this once before because I didn't remember much of it but it was all vaguely familiar. There was a great reflection of philanthropy and poverty porn in this that all too realistically mirrors real life. All in all, it follows the same theme as the other books as the series progresses: the stories are better developed, but there's often a disconnect between the content of the story and how it's written. In this, there was emphasis on how disgusting it was that they
had made Alex look like a, I believe the phrase was, "charicature of a disabled person," but at the same time this story (any many previous books in the series) rely on disabilities and deformities as a way of framing the antagonist as evil or different
