Spring Snow by Yukio Mishima
5.0

An achingly beautiful, intense and deeply sensitive work of art. Mishima conjures an all too real world with all the beauty and grandeur of the human spirit and emotion. Interspersed with lush pulsating Japanese landscapes, philosophy, logic, French poetry and spiritualism, this love story is monumental in all senses of the word. A fine plot, lucid and relatable, with its all too perfect characters with their human flaws, it reveals the very extremities of longing and love with poignancy and glorious austerity.
Mishima definitely is one of my favorite Japanese writers now.
