What do you do after you kill the Dark Lord and take over the Empire? There's no "and they lived happily ever after" and instead, there are the logistical and economical struggles of establishing a new government from the remains of a shattered empire.
Where the first book had a fast-paced heist/rebellion plot, the second entry is more of a political thriller at heart. It's still Mistborn, but the political part of the story is a much bigger focus this time. Personally, I think it's done wonderfully and explores the struggle between personal morals and the greater good of the empire and its people.
The mysteries and history surrounding Rashek, Kwaan, Alendi, and the Well
of Ascension told to us throughout the epigraphs of this book are just as intriguing as last time and are honestly done masterfully.
