I may be biased as someone who is afflicted with similar conditions as the main character (cleft-affected and hard of hearing), it was one of the most accurate representations of being young and growing up with a facial difference. The good, the bad, and the ugly involved with it.
While sometimes I felt the main cast acted a bit “too young” for their age, it also could be me just interpreting children wrong as it’s been a while since I was in 5th grade myself.

Moderate: Ableism, Bullying, Chronic illness, Medical content, and Medical trauma
While this book does contain some trigger content, specifically around medical procedures and harassment and bullying associated with having a visible difference and disability, nothing is majorly graphic or excessive given the context of the story.
