I think the mark of a good thriller is something that grips you so much that you simply must finish it all in one sitting, even if that means staying up until 2am with classes the next day and homework to be done— which is exactly what this book did for me. I’ve never read any Stephen King before, and only vaguely knew the plot of this book (I haven’t even seen the movie), so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. There was a lot that I found really successful, and some things I found distasteful (perhaps an understatement), but keeping in line with Paul’s continuous game of Can He? and Annie’s idea of what’s not “cheating” in story-telling, the most impressive thing to me was how fair it all was. Not exactly realistic, but believably fair. Don’t know if I’ll read any more of his work, but I don’t regret reading this one.
