I don't typically go for historical fiction, but this one was a feminist story with many LGBTQ+ characters, so I really wanted to give it a try. I will say, the western storyline was not as dry as I thought it was going to be at all. I typically don't care for westerns, but the plot was beautifully interwoven into the setting, which made for a very enjoyable read. I appreciated that the author didn't shy away from difficult topics; the characters were strong and unapologetic. Having a diverse cast of characters was very appealing to me as well.
I definitely recommend this read; however, please be aware of the TW/CW (listed below).

Additional TW/CW:
There are a couple of brief conversations about a pandemic (everything being closed, people being stuck at home due to German measles) that could be triggering, especially during these COVID-19 times.
There is discussion of a human being castrated, with some minor description.
