My Body by Emily Ratajkowski

challenging dark reflective tense fast-paced

3.75

I did really enjoy this book. It was a very fast read for me. Hearing about the world of glamour and beauty is always fascinating because of its underlaying darkness, and Emily’s take is no different. This book is a culmination of her trying to understand her place in the world, and in that sense it did feel very jumbled at times, almost seeming to double back on its points. I think had the ending scene been different, I would have rated this book higher. However, she spent the whole book talking about how she wanted control and power over her body and how she achieved that in her own ways, and then ended by making it about how her body is wonderful because it is child-bearing. Maybe I’m reading too much into that and should just remember it comes from the love of a new mother to her son.
