The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

I read this book for the first time three years ago and I finished it just as quickly this time. It is excellent.

I love how TJR writes and I especially love the dignity she bestows upon Evelyn and therefore upon all the women in history who walked her same path. Hollywood in Evelyn’s time was a difficult place to be as a woman and I felt that TJR portrayed it powerfully. I loved the frankness with which Reid approaches guilt, regret, love, sexuality, and success in this book. My favorite bits were the ones written about the love between Evelyn and Celia and Evelyn and Harry. Absolutely a must-read.
