I had high expectations going into this one because Soul Eater was a near-perfect read for me, but the story just didn’t captivate me the way Wyn and Danny’s did in this first book.

Don’t get me wrong, I adore Edin. His adorable, affectionate, nurturing nature is absolutely precious and I wouldn’t change a thing about the relationship aspect of the story, but the plot itself was a bit boring to me. I didn’t care very much about Charlie and all the tracking in order to rescue him felt tedious.

Plus, I don’t know if I’m nitpicking here, but it really seemed like they were just trekking across entire states on foot like it was nothing and took no time at all. Just like, one day they’re in Nebraska, then they’re in Kentucky, then they’re in Iowa, etc. as if walking hundreds and hundreds of miles across the United States wouldn’t take a really, really long time.
