Did not finish book. Stopped at 23%.

I am finding this incredibly boring. There is a lot of repetition that feels wildly unnecessary -- do we really need to know the colour of the ocean, in a "mermaid" book, every other page? Yeah, this wasn't for me and now that's 2 books off my physical TBR (I'm not going to bother with the second book either, obviously).
