Seer by S.E. Welsh

4.0

A Seer that is blind, Chloe Santos was the victim of a horrendous attempted murder that left her disfigured. But the powers that were thought to be destroyed with the loss of her eyes are still going strong. She is still a Seer, and things are about to get interesting when she is summoned to a meeting with the Council.
The first book in a new series by S.E. Welsh, and it does not disappoint. I am looking forward to seeing where this series goes next.
It is well paced and plotted. The world she created is intriguing and there is great character development. A super strong female lead that has had her share of tragedy to overcome. The scare-tastic boys are fun and sexy and lovable even when they are at their scary best. Bailey is fabulous – I love a good hellhound – he’s really just a big protective marshmallow.
The story is exciting and action packed with a good hit of steaminess too. I have always been a fan of books that weave ancient mythology into a modern story. It was appealing to have city settings that I am familiar with, it adds an element of familiarity. I love Phobos, although I do feel that the bond was a little fast – that is just personal preference though, I prefer a slow burn to an instant bonding. Phobos is an immortal son of Ares and has had a past soaked in horror and pain. Meeting his soulmate could change everything. Can they both have a shot at happiness or will the shift in loyalties be prevented? I am looking forward to seeing more of these characters as the series progresses.
