Dear Aaron by Mariana Zapata

3.0

I absolutely adored reading this book. I loved every minute of the feeling of getting exclusive access into seeing literally, friendship turned to skinny love turned relationship. While in today's day and age, the context of falling in love first over the internet and then in real life is more common, It felt super special nevertheless.

The only reason why I am not giving it 5 stars, is because of the inconclusive ending. Quite frankly the way the book ended was so jarring and so many open threads were left open I am shocked.
Spoiler What happens to their relationship? Ruby got sick, got a lung infection and it just ends there? What does Aaron end up doing with his life? How does his relationship with his Family, father, mother end? Does he go back to the military? Do they end up living together? In Texas or in Kentucky? How did the trip with her father go? What does she end up doing for a living in terms of employment? What about her? Does her sister end up ice skating after all? WHAT DOES RUBY AND AARON LOOK LIKE IN A RELATIONSHIP? HOW ABOUT PLAYING HOUSE FOR A BIT MORE?!

SO MANY QUESTIONS. GAH. I get that the book was already really long, but I'd have hoped that Zapata knows that her fans will read everything and the longer her books the better. I'm so confused. I want to read more of her novels, but if this is a common place or not. Ugh.
