We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
5.0
After avoiding this book for a while, I'm so glad that I read it. Any book that can make me cry is an awesome book. I balled throughout the last part of the book. The raw emotion and the beautifully lyrical sentences in this book is what kept me reading.
I will admit that going into it, I did not think I would finish the book. Not because it was bad, but simply because I had picked up the book so many times without ever opening it.
Turns out, it is now one of my favorites for the year.
I connected vaguely with the main character because although I did not do what she has done specifically, I do have moments of my life that I have blocked off. Needless to say, I did not see where the book was going. I tried to guess and ultimately failed. But the character development of the main character was great...she didn't end the book anywhere near her thought process at the beginning.
2018 FAVORITE!
