My first book by Tia Williams. I didn't expect this to have elements of fantasy/magical realism, and that's not something I usually go for. But it made for a unique read I enjoyed. The characters are layered and lovely, the connection to the Harlem Renaissance - which I knew essentially nothing about - were an interesting bit of learning and the romance, while a little too cheesy maybe, unfolds in an engaging and at times spicy way.
