a beautifully written and educating meditation on the color blue, and its ties with black history

there was so much information here, much of which i've never remotely considered- from bluebirds as familiars, to the plant indigo, to the influence of catholicism on the thinking of enslaved people. there is also so much i need to do a deeper dive into. the sections on the congo free state in particular showed a huge gap in my knowledge i am eager to fill. i found lorraine hansberry's words on the matter to be so powerful, and i am so excited to see perry already released a biography on her that i can jump into next
