Honestly, I'd never read the book before, though I was almost certain I had, but I had watched the movie. And I loved the movie, still have it on my shelves.
So I found it quite different from what Fritz Lang made of it and was a bit disappointed. The story in itself is full of adventures, but a bit slow in the way it is told and, probably because it's directed at an audience of children in the first place, very moral.
However, I was deep in my sick bed when I read this, so maybe that's why I didn't like it as much as I thought I would...
