The Adventure Time Encyclopaedia: Inhabitants, Lore, Spells, and Ancient Crypt Warnings of the Land of Ooo Circa 19.56 B.G.E. - 501 A.G.E. by Sean Tejaratchi, Aisleen Romano, Martin Olson, Celeste Moreno, Pendleton Ward, Renée French, Mahendra Singh, Tony Millionaire

4.0

The Adventure Time Encyclopaedia was written by Martin Olson, who actually voices Hunson Abadeer in Adventure Time and his daughter, who helped out by contributing her handwriting to the book, voices Marceline the Vampire Queen his daughter.

I saw them at the Denver Public Library talking (and singing) about this book and working together on AT. It was a lot of fun and really added to reading this book and watching the show. Adventure Time really is one of the best shows because it is made by people who care, who put a lot of effort and personal love into it. It shows!

Anyway, I loved the snarky way that Olson wrote the encyclopaedia, it was very true to the voice of Hunson and the world of AT in general. He also does a bang up job writing Ice King's 'zine, BMO's guidebook and other entries throughout the book. It's much more than just an character encylopaedia with entries describing the various AT folks and how Hunson's going to eventually suck their souls. There is a travel section, a bit where the book is alive and handwritten comics and doodles by Finn, Jake and Marceline.

As you read try to find the snail in every illustration heading a chapter! My favorite entries were of course for the Ice King and Jake's doodles on the Rainicorn entry. Also, that backwards forward was almost impossible for me to read...but I did it, I had to, or else I wouldn't have felt complete, but beware, I did get a bit of a headache after starring at it for so long...

If you like Adventure Time enough to watch the show and read the comics, check this book out, it is well worth a read.
