I’m not sure if reading the prequel first was a mistake or not. As I did know the whole time that the stepmother had good reason because she’s good ole Chinnari but also I kept comparing the prequel main character to Shinori and I didn’t find the spoiled princess to be very loveable or even likable. I often found myself frustrated with her and not understanding why she wouldn’t listen to anyone’s advice when her own moral compass was so unreliable. I enjoyed the plot although I’m realizing the covers are beautiful but not very accurate to how the characters look 90% of the book. Overall, I’m going to read the next book in the series but I’m not looking forward to it as much, this was a bit of a let down following the prequel.
