As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh
4.0
I waited to write my review of this book because I was struggling with how to rate it.
This book is set during wartime in Syria. It's very sad and at times horrific. I really felt for the main character and there were quite a few gut punches. There were parts that I felt were dragged out but the writing was really good.
I recently read another novel and in retrospect, I realized why I hesitated to rate this one. I didnt feel as connected to this character because we jump into the story in the midst of her trauma. We don't get to know her a person except through some flashbacks. Overall a great read and I still would recommend however this is def not a light read!!!
