I watched The Chronicles of Narnia movies before I started reading this collection, so obviously I didn't know anything about this story, since it's not covered in film. I can say that I really enjoyed it. There were parts that made laugh and parts that left me surprised for being written in a kids book (like ArĂ¡vis storyline). I was also really pleased to read about the Pevensies as Kings and Queens of Narnia (but weirdly Peter didn't make an appearance) and I found myself being more interested in them than in the main plot. I really wished that there was more in this book about them and their reign or that there was a book in the series for that purpose.
