Heat Wave by TJ Klune

The Extraordinary series is a witty and fun take on the superhero genre. I basically went in to these books thinking Sky High but LGBTQ and thats exactly what I got. The writing is quick paced, the characters are fun and the plot plays out just like any hero movie would.

Are these books predictable? Yes. Do they feel a little silly from time to time? Absolutely. But thats the point of them. They arent meant to be taken super seriously and are instead supposed to make you laugh, make you cringe, make you feel like an awkward teenager getting a lesson in enemas from your dad... okay maybe not that last one lol.

I think TJ Klune put a lot of his fun side in to this series. If you've read any of his other works you know he's a writer capable of serious stories with plenty of pain and heartbreak but The Extraordinarines was a step back from that and a nod towards the funny and cheesy side of the YA genre. I found all three books to be enjoyable and a nice little refresher in between serious book after serious book.

This series is definitely not for everyone, but if youre looking for what I've mentioned above then I would definitely recommend them!
