Dune by Frank Herbert

5.0

Better on re-read, picked up on little things I missed on the first one. Now reading other sci-fi and fantasy I truly understand how Dune was the first inspiration. Herbert's prose are insane, felt like I could taste the spice, feel the desert and the heat on this read. And his similes! I replayed them over and over in my mind! Now gonna finally finish the series. Also have to say, oftentimes in books I tend to skip the start of the chapter anecdotes, but this time I read them and I have to say I need to stop skipping them lol.

“The people who can destroy a thing, they control it.”

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
