The Enemy in My Bed by L.K. Shaw

5.0

Oh Pierce! You are brutal. Cold. Angry. Deadly. But we can’t help but be drawn to you. And neither can Mila. Even though you kidnapped her!

This is book 2 in the Brooklyn Kings series and much darker than Jacob and Brenna’s story in book 1……….but also a well written, intriguing tale. An easy read, but be prepared for the dark mafia undertones. Mila is Russian. Pierce is the bodyguard (and cousin) to the head of the Italian mafia family. Who’s married to an Irish granddaughter of the head of THAT FAMILY. Confused ? Don’t be. Oh. And. Pierce hates the Russians who tortured his young sister. Wants to kill every last one. Then why can’t he stop caring about Mila? The more he learns about her, the more his cold dead heart comes to life.

I’m all for dark, deadly men who discover the right woman to crack open their hearts. Love those books. But. What I really love about this particular series is the women! These are strong women with pasts that should have wrecked them. But. They discover their inner strength. They stand up and defy these deadly mobsters. Mila may have been kidnapped but she discovers what’s behind the cold deadly Pierce at the same time he lets emotions other than anger come to light. Oh. I can’t wait to read Francesca and Gino’s story next!
