An eye-opener in many respects. A first hand account on what it is like to be brought up in a messed up household, to figuring out life in the military, all while trying to do the right thing for the right reasons, and not just publicity, is what I have gathered from this text. Maybe I need to read a few more counter arguments and cement my position on the matter of the disclosure of classified information, more firmly, my current position aligns with what the writer has laid out in the book and their position is something that I agree with.

There were many instances in the book, where I was moved by the writer’s struggles, there were instances where I was overcome with rage and there instances where I sympathised but didn’t fully understand the writer’s intention to do what’s morally right. It’s a highly nuanced topic. But one word that accurately depicts the root cause of what the writer was trying to unearth - Corruption. The pervasive nature of this trait that everyone is aware of, yet the extent to which governments can go to hide their true motivations for any action, continues to shock. Perhaps, I’m going on a tangent, but these thoughts were in my mind while reading the book and I feel it prudent to jot down the same.

I’d encourage everyone to give this a read. It doesn’t matter if you don’t agree with the writer’s intentions that lead to their actions, but I believe there would be some semblance of empathy evoked in you while reading it.

Finally, not sure why the book is not as popular (judging purely by the number of Goodreads ratings anyway).
