As usual with this series, the story unfolded at a snail's pace, but it started to pick up some pace about halfway through. Emma and Julian's storyline was the only one that I loved. I was either bored or frustrated with the others.
I especially despised the Cohort storyline, and the overall stress of the book ruined it for me.

New Julian was interesting at first but I hated the way he dismissed Ty. He could have fixed everything. Emma was pretty basic and I felt neutral towards her. I loved the True Nephilim situation though. I didn't particularly care about the land of Faerie but absolutely loved Thule. It felt like a crossover! It was great seeing Raphael again, and Livvy was amazing. I hated Annabel though.

I also hated that Kieran, Cristina and Mark were seperated at first but enjoyed the evolution of their relationship. Diego and Jaime really suffered in this book. The Dearborns and Manuel really had it out for them and all of the downworlders, and they needed to end. They got their justice at least. Diana and Gwyn were awesome, and it was nice seeing the Mortal Instruments gang again (Alec & Magnus got married!).

In terms of the others, I absolutely loved Dru and Tavvy. They were so strong and adorable and had a great relationship with each other. Helen and Aline were done dirty, as if they hadn't gone through enough, but I loved seeing them again. Kit deserved so much better but Ty was too focused on getting Livvy back. I hope they make up again and Kit claims the lands of Faerie. I also wonder if Ash and Dru will be endgame, or whether Ash will become an enemy?

In summary, I didn't like Part One, but liked Parts Two and Three. Although the story improved, I was stressed out by most of the storylines and that ruined the book for me, especially since the book was so big! I'm still looking forward to The Wicked Powers and seeing how the story unfolds though.
