Steering the Craft: A Twenty-First-Century Guide to Sailing the Sea of Story by Ursula K. Le Guin

informative reflective medium-paced

5.0

Ursula le Guin is one of the most masterful writers of contemporary fiction, and her ability to condense and share her skills with others is truly unique.

The advice in this book is insightful, practical, and aimed at actually helping the reader develop those same skills she is so adept at.

Le Guin uses humour, commentary, her own mistakes, and her own successes to illustrate the journey every artist takes when they begin a project.

As an editor and teacher of creative writing, this is the first text I assign all of my writers to read from Day 1.
