Nine Lives by Peter Swanson
5.0

“You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

2nd 5⭐️ of the year.

I was almost immediately into this book. This was my second Swanson book after "Eight Perfect Murders," which was outstanding (not connected at all to "Nine Lives," but I highly recommend reading it before or after).

A sheet of paper with nine names on it gets sent out by mail to everyone on the list. There doesn’t appear to be any connection between the nine names besides each of them getting this letter. One of these nine is an FBI agent, which develops the story along. The book goes into the lives of each of the people on the sheet, who start being killed one at a time. The whodunit aspect is thick and challenging for sure.

This is very well written, captivating, with the ending tying the whole thing up in a bow. The last couple of pages, after the book is basically over, have one last twist, which could be argued as not needed, but it didn’t take away from the book at all.

This is quick and entertaining; go for it.
