 I first read this trilogy in over winter break my freshman year of university. I’d received the third book, Crystal Kingdom, as a Christmas gift from my roommate, who didn’t realize at the time that she’d bought the last book in a series and the not the first. So, I bought the first two books myself so that I could read all three in one go. As part of my goal to weed out books I’ll never reread again from my personal collection, I’ve been reading and rereading everything I own, even if I don’t really want to. Kanin Chronicles isn’t a series I was especially hyped to revisit. I’d remembered enjoying it somewhat when I first read it, but not enough that I was excited to read it again. I remembered that I had been able to guess the “plot twist” about halfway through the second book, though it isn’t revealed until the first third of the final book... Read the full review here
