An adventure that is too dark even for a children book but maybe it is because of the odd vintage photos....
I have seen reviews about the book and the entire series that it is like the new Harry Potter which I know would be a great compliment for Ransom Riggs
But for me I find that still an understatement, even if it didnt become a movie franchise that big film companies would have immediate boners upon one glance, the series itself would beat the Harry potter books or other fantasy series books because even Stephen King never done such things before:
Weaving a story behind mysterious vintage photos that seemingly has no value to anyone but just to peak your curiousity then forget later
But with Ransom riggs powers of imagination and command with great vocabulary and image inducing words it makes the photos and the stories both unforgettable
I think only riggs can do this or would have been the first one to do it because he two things: The odd habit of collecting vintage old photos and the desire to write a parable or fable like stories. Apparently, other famous writers only have just the latter.
Maybe this is why this cant be a succesful movie because it takes away what is vital in each book. The creepy vintage photos that ignite your imagination but dont replace your entire imagination like what a movie does
My imagination of what Emma looks and feels like and what A hollowghast looks like and how frigthengly it is to me cannot be beat by even a highbudget CGI version of them.
INSIGHT ABOUT THE BOOK AND ON HOW THE BOOK IS ENCHANTING:

THE BOOK IS BEAUTIFUL NOT BECAUSE PICTURES REPLACE YOUR ENTIRE IMAGINATION BUT RATHER PLANT ODD IMAGES IN YOUR HEAD LIKE SEEDS WHICH WILL THEN LATER ON SPREAD TO YOUR HEAD
LIKE CANCER AND BLOSSOM INTO A DARK BUT ENCHANTING FLOWER.. THE PICTURES TRIGGER YOUR IMAGINATION BUT YOUR IMAGINATION IS STILL THE ONE WHO PRODUCES THE REST OF THE IMAGES THAT THE POECTIC PROSE EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR
THS IS WHY THE MOVIE IS NOT SO LIKABLE COMPARED TO THE BOOK BECAUSE, OUR HUMAN IMAGINATION OF THE CHARACTERS AND SCENCE's are MUCH MORE ENCHANTING AND FULLER THAN ANY MOVIE MAGIC OR FILM CAN EVER PRODUCE, NO MATTER HOW MUCH GREAT THE BUDGET IS OR CGI
Your imagination is still the greatest projection screen you can ever have no matter how much our technology advances
