Late to the Party by Kelly Quindlen

5.0

Simply can't put this book down, it is super engaging. Author tells the story the way that your friends sharing their experience, natural and go with the flow. The book's theme is relatable, the fear of missing out as a teenager, the certain pressure when you want to look cool in front of your friends by going to certain parties or have a date. I think the main character insecurity really speaks out, the way she labelled herself to be either cool kids or weirdo, when the world is not that black and white. At the end, cool kids or not, we should not limit ourselves and having good friends that actually supports you is a treasure. I also like how this book speaks about LGBT without over sexualizing the characters. Of course, this book is still fiction, so sometimes make you wonder like "man, I wish it was that smooth". Nice book overall.
