In the Heart of the Heart of the Country and Other Stories by William H. Gass
3.75
The Pedersen Kid might've been the best story out of all five of them. The title story was also very good, and I liked Icicles and Order of Insects-- that is to say, Mrs. Mean was unfortunately my least favorite. Gass has a prose that is cold and ugly and frankly thrilling, which I think worked best in The Pedersen Kid.
