To All the Boys I've Loved Before
by Jenny Han
Oh man, I thought people were exaggerating when they said Lara Jean was very immature and young-sounding. I cringed so hard whenever she or her sisters called Josh 'Joshy' and their mom 'Mommy'. I just couldn't.
This was just plain bad. The writing was not good, Lara Jean was an excruciating narrator and so much of the drama and conflict was unnecessary. While reading it, I could see the potential that this book had to actually be funny, light-hearted but with some emotional weight to it. Not so. Just badly written romantic drama that was way more complicated than it needed to be.
I did have to laugh when Lara Jean saw Josh working at the bookstore shelving books in the 'non-fiction' section. As a bookseller, one of the most irritating questions you can be asked is, "Where is your non-fiction section?"
