The Darkest Corner by Liliana Hart

4.0

I'm somewhere between 4 and 5 stars on this. I want to say it felt a little slow at times, I'm not sure if that is accurate as there was always something relevant to the plot happening. I think it's more that some scenes seemed to be purely either about the developing relationship between Tess and Deacon or they were about the suspense/intrigue part of the plot. And whilst the story flowed smoothly the two parts didn't seem to be blended together. Perhaps it was that the

The chemistry between Tess and Deacon was not only believable, but also extremely hot. They were both interesting and very likeable characters and felt very 'real' and I totally bought into their relationship. The author did a good job of providing their back stories without it feeling forced.

I felt that perhaps there was a little too much about Tess's mother and the problems she caused. This detracted from the main story a little bit and probably is what made it feel a little slow at times. However I did really enjoy the book, the writing is excellent quality, the characters and plot have been very well thought through and whilst the suspense part was very well written it was the scenes between Tess and Deacon that really made the book.

I definitely want to read the rest of this series and can't wait to find out what happens to the other Gravediggers.
