Way of the Warrior by Catherine Mann, Julie Ann Walker, Suzanne Brockmann

4.0

I'm not a fan of anthologies - I usually only read one or two and then give up but I actually finished all eight in this book.

Hot as Hell by Julie Ann Walker 4 Stars
Deep Six series #.5
Terrorists attack the US Embassy in Pakistan. Pretty good, well-paced, easy style, had a plot. I enjoy her previous series and this looks like a great start to the new one.

In Plain Sight by Catherine Mann 4 Stars
Elite Force #4.5
First of the novellas to feature a wounded ex-serviceman. Also a sweet story of childhood sweethearts reunited when her crazy ex starts stalking her. I love Catherine Mann and this was a good novella.

Torn by Kate Serine 4 Stars
Protect and Serve #.5
Describing this makes it sound very much like the pervious novella but they are totally different. Joe returns home, invalided our of the forces. His family are the law in his small town and he is about to start work - but do the other deputies think he is safe? His childhood sweetheart has a stalker who leaves poems and flowers - but the gifts are escalating, and not in a good way. A new author to me and very enjoyable.

War Games by Lea Griffth 3.5 Stars
Endgame Ops #.5
This was very different. A CIA geek goes into a maximum security prison and breaks out a Delta Special Forces soldier. Together they try to discover who framed him for the murder of his team and why. Although this was a great novella it is clearly a set up for a new series and leaves the reader hanging. Another new author for me.

Beauty and the Marine by Tina Wainscott 3 Stars
Justiss Alliance #3.5
A beauty and the beast retelling. Another wounded hero, this time staging a fake reality TV show with a model in order to draw out a vicious stalker. I wasn't overly impressed with the twist - saw it coming a mile off.

NSDQ by M.L. Buchman 4.5 Stars
#6.6 Night Stalkers
M.L. Buchman is my latest book crush and one of the reasons I got the book. The story of a female helo pilot who loses a leg in a crash and how she learns to adapt with the help of a civilian geek. Loved it.

Sealed With Passion by Anne Elizabeth 2.5 Stars
#3.5 West Coast Navy SEALs
I really didn't like this novella. Easily my lest favourite in the book. Navy SEAL and interior designer have a one night stand five years ago and don't meet again even though they are each best friends with a couple. I didn't like the way the authors voice and the characters' voices were indistinguishable. It just did nothing for me.

Home Fire Inferno (Burn, baby, burn) by Suzanne Brockmann 4.5 Stars
#17.5 Trouble Shooters
Love Suzanne Brockmann. This is a grand reunion of a cast of thousands as Jennilynn goes into labour whilst stranded in the middle of nowhere with Eden while their husbands are overseas on standby. Loved HoboMofo so much.
