Picked this book up because the blurb was intriguing and I have heard so many good things about Kennedy Ryan. While the writing was stellar, the plot of the book was NOT what I was expecting at all, and definitely threw me for a loop. (I guess I should've read some reviews beforehand) But this is not a fun loving romance. There is so much emotion and hardship that plays out in this book, and it is very heavy at points. While this was not the book I was expecting, I did find myself continuing to read, because I was cheering on Iris, and I wanted to see her succeed, and get through all the obstacles in her way. I liked the main hero, August, but to be honest, I found their relationship a little hard to believe, especially at the beginning. The insta-love trope is really not my vibe. I enjoyed it enough, that I will look into the other books in the series.
