The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black

1.0

I hate to be such a negative Nelly, but I absolutely hated this book for the most part. For the record, I did really enjoy the prologue of the book, though. The Queen of Nothing once again left me wondering why people seem to love the Folk of the Air series so much. I liked both The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King, but I've always felt like they were both incredibly overrated and problematic books; and I truly hated this book. Personally, I find Jude and almost all of the other characters in the series, with the exception of Oak, unlikable and poorly written. Jude is honestly one of the most frustrating protagonists that I've ever encountered in a book. The Queen of Nothing suffers from a variety of problems; such as bad or lack of character development, plot development and plot resolution, pacing, etc. Honestly, reading this book really left me wondering why I actually chose to read the entire Folk of the Air series; especially considering the fact that I've never loved this series like everybody else who reads the series seems to. Honestly, the only reason why I didn't DNF The Queen of Nothing is because it's the last book in the Folk of the Air series. (Sighs loudly) Okay, rant over.

My rating / score: 1 out of 5 Stars on the Goodreads rating system (But only because Goodreads STILL doesn't give people the option to give half star ratings. If I could, I would definitely give this book 1/2 out of 5 Stars on the Goodreads rating system) ; 1 out of 10 on my own personal scoring system.
