A hearbreakingly beautiful book that had moments of levity and humor.

Annie is nearing the end of her pregnancy shopping at Ikea in Portland when the 'big one' hits the area. Far from home with no resources and no way to get in touch with her husband, Annie decides to walk across the city to find him. Encountering various challenges given the devastation and wreckage the earthquake left behind, she also is reflecting on the path that led her to this moment and wondering if she can change her life from this point forward.

I laughed reading the inner monologue, "Alexa, how do you survive an earthquake?" and cried thinking how if a disaster strikes, I'd want to be with my partner and how that would make anything that much easier to handle.
