Memnoch the Devil
by Anne Rice
3 stars. Definitely wasn’t a favorite of mine unfortunately. It was an interesting premise and all of the theology talk was very fascinating but it didn’t make for an entertaining read, especially for it to be almost 450 pages.
I think I just wanted more of a fun and zany read like Tales of a Body Thief where as this one was much more philosophical and took itself seriously. Lestat is resolved to a background character as this is very much Memnoch’s book which left me a bit sour not gonna lie.
That’s not to say that this was all bad because it definitely wasn’t. I loved a lot of the conversations about religion in this and there were some damn good quotes that I loved. I found the ending to be well done and wrapped up the story nicely. Also, of course I have to mention the beauty that is Ms. Rice’s writing because it seriously blows me away with every book of hers that I pick up.
Overall, not the most exciting read but it was fine. I’m just super excited to get to book six since it’s finally Armand’s book.
